Checks, deposits, loan tickets, and ledger transactions are captured, corrected, and balanced—creating a complete set of the day’s transactions—and an archival database of images is compiled. Transit checks can be segregated into a separate pocket and forwarded to the Federal Reserve (or other correspondent banks) for collection. And the necessary documentation for these cash letters is generated easily. This comprehensive software suite comes complete with three modules: ProofPC Sorter, ProofPC, and ImageChex Express. ProofPC Sorter captures the images and MICR line data from the Canon CR-Series using the check transport industry’s most popular interface, Silver Bullet Technology Inc.’s Ranger Transport API. ProofPC lets users correct captured items like rejected items with MICR omissions, incorrect encoding, or invalid characters. The third module, ImageChex Express, allows users to retrieve one or more images based on a variety of indexes—making it one of the most robust document archival and research systems in the industry.

Users can manage the data intuitively because the ImageChex Express Advanced interface uses the familiar Microsoft Explorer format, along with “tree” controls and matrix tables. The spreadsheet-like indexes are always displayed with their corresponding images, during capture sessions, when adjusting MICR records, and when displaying search results. As daily volume increases, multiple CR-180 or CR-55 units can be easily installed to accommodate the growing volume of transactions.
PC-Based Processing.
ImageChex Express Advanced works on any PC using the Windows 2000 or XP Operating Systems; it stores scanned documents and their associated Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) information in multi-page TIFF files and a sophisticated database index. The software is built on Microsoft Access; so additional databases are not required. Plus, users can store the data right on their PC, an external hard disk, a network, or any other conventional backup system. Even when errors occur, ImageChex Express Advanced has built-in recovery and verification tools to help keep systems up and running.
